Leading R & B singer, R. Kelly, had to undergo emergency throat surgery to drain an abscess in one of the tonsils.
Reuters reports that Kelly is now being treated at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago until the time that has not been determined.
A statement from one of Kelly's representatives revealed that Kelly was immediately taken to hospital after he complained that his throat hurt.
Last week, Kelly wrote on his Twitter account, @ kellzodiac, that he was feeling unwell.
"I refuse to take another cup of theraflu! I feel like my throat is coming back. I've been in bed sweating like crazy, "he wrote.
Kelly has just completed the United States for world tour Love Letter, which will also signify his first concert in Britain since nine years ago.
