Avenged Sevenfold Could Prevent Leave Dream Theater's Mike Portnoy

Mike Portnoy, drummer and founder of the progressive metal band Dream Theater, left the band that he leave foster care more than twenty years ago in September 2010.
The reason, he wants to try to arouse his creative side by creating with Avenged Sevenfold drummer James Sullivan who lost since late 2009 - but the rest helped Dream Theater - does not get the approval of other personnel.
After working on recording the album Nightmare, Portnoy who had intended to become permanent personnel Avenged Sevenfold does not get approval from all the band members. Finally he expressed his departure from Avenged Sevenfold on December 16, 2010.
The two guitarists Guitar World magazine Avenged Sevenfold, Zacky Vengeance and Synyster Gates, explains what happened at that time so they do not accept Portnoy to become permanent personnel. "He's a great person and a great drummer. And we have to consider him as family. But ... He's Mike Portnoy, "open the Gates.
"He's already well established. He made a lot of money. More than what we can provide, especially for the time being. And I consider that moment after Jimmy died, if we want to do it, I want to give opportunities to young people. That would be like a dream come true, to breathe in new life from death. So it feels right. Unfortunately, Mike made the decision that I did not know that he is very happy at the time, and we are not conducive to responding to happiness, "Gates said at length.
Meanwhile Vengeance admitted, she initially thought was coming Portnoy is a sincere intention to help them accomplish what Jimmy Sullivan left off - ie drum arrangements have been made before he died. However, recent Vengeance later realized that Portnoy had other plans.
"I know for a fact that he started to lose a little romance in Dream Theater. It had happened before he knew us. And then Nightmare become the number one album and a tour of our great, and I think it's exciting for him. I think his intention is clear, he wanted to be a personnel Avenged Sevenfold. But we are not ready to have new personnel, "Vengeance says.
Vengeance then continued, "And frankly he did not fit anyway. When he was stopped from Dream Theater, there is something that we do not say, because he's a grown man and he's already made his decision. But we have prevented because it is fully aware we are not ready to commit to him. But he was alive. "
After the death of Portnoy, Avenged Sevenfold pulled Arin Ilejay (Confide) to be a drummer during the tour. Then when trying to return to Dream Theater, Portnoy receive a rejection because the band has set drummer Mike Mangini as new.
Portnoy is currently working on a project band power trio format that has not announced his name along with guitarist John Sykes (Whitesnake, Blue Murder, Thin Lizzy) and a bassist who also has not announced his name. Previously he had worked full-length album with Adrenaline Mob - project with vocalist Russell Allen (Symphony X), guitarist Mike Orlando (Sonic Stomp), bassist Paul DiLeo and guitarist Rich Ward (Stuck Mojo, Fozzy).
